Original clay tile on a 1920s Spanish Colonial doesn't behave like a tract comp roof, and the streets around Greenleaf and Uptown are full of it — steep pitches, cut-up rooflines, valleys that take real time to detail. Where the field tile is still sound we salvage and re-lay it instead of pushing a full tear-off. Craftsman and Victorian homes near the college get the same approach: keep the profile, fix the underlayment that's actually leaking.
Friendly Hills and the Whittier Hills are a different job. Bigger custom homes, canyon exposure, wind off the ridge, brush close enough that ember-resistant detailing matters. Plenty of those roof structures were rebuilt after the '87 Whittier Narrows quake, so framing varies house to house — we look before we quote. South of Whittier Blvd it's postwar tract, and simpler.

West Whittier-Los Nietos and South Whittier are unincorporated, so those permits go through LA County Public Works, not the City of Whittier. Different counter, different timeline. We check the parcel before scheduling so the inspection doesn't stall the job.
Can you match the old tile on my Uptown house?
Usually. Mission and two-piece clay from that era can often be sourced or salvaged off the same roof, with new tile hidden on the rear slopes. If a match isn't realistic we'll tell you upfront instead of mixing profiles on a street-facing elevation.
