It's a straight run north up Azusa Ave on Highway 39 from our yard in West Covina, which makes scheduling easy — right up until the job is above Sierra Madre Ave. South of Foothill the streets are flat, the houses are older, and a tear-off crew can stage a dumpster in the driveway without much thought. Get into Rosedale or up toward Mountain Cove and San Gabriel Canyon Rd and it changes: narrow hillside approaches, HOA architectural review on anything visible, and a very high fire hazard severity zone that pulls Chapter 7A into the job. That means Class A assemblies, ember-resistant vents, and a deck rated for the 72 lb cap sheet. Not optional, not negotiable at inspection.
Rosedale's concrete tile is the call we take most. Those 2000s tract roofs look fine from the street while the underlayment underneath quietly reaches the end of its first life — tile gets lifted, felt gets replaced, tile goes back down. Near Alosta Ave, around Azusa Pacific and Citrus College, a lot of what we handle is investor-owned, so we're often reporting to someone who's never stood on the roof.

Why do I keep losing ridge cap when my neighbors don't?
The canyon acts as a funnel. Santa Ana gusts pick up speed coming down it and hit the valley floor hard, so blow-off calls cluster in a fairly tight band after every event. Ridge and hip caps go first because they're the most exposed course on the roof. It's usually a fastening and adhesive detail, not the whole roof failing.
